I cannot rely on three years at Manchester United - Ruben Amorim

the United manager

United's manager - here being consoled after May's European final loss - notes he is satisfied by the co-owner's extended support but emphasized that the future is unpredictable in football.

The Red Devils' boss the Portuguese coach feels it's significant the investor publicly shared his future vision - but says nothing is certain about the next day in soccer, never mind three seasons.

During a discussion with The Times in recent days, Ratcliffe mentioned it may need the manager a three-year period to create substantial change at the Theatre of Dreams.

Emerging in an era when the coach's tenure has been under scrutiny following an extended sequence of poor performances, the statements assisted in calming a portion of the current stress.

Yet, discussing prior to the 100th meeting with traditional foes Liverpool at Anfield, the United boss emphasized how the future is hard to predict in football.

"It's truly positive to listen to that but he tells me continuously, sometimes with a message following matches - but you know, I know and the co-owner recognizes, that soccer doesn't work that way," he commented.

"The crucial element is the next game. Despite having backers, you cannot control the next day in football."

CEO the club executive has acknowledged it has needed much more time for the manager to acclimate to the Premier League following his move from his former club in November than anybody anticipated.

United have won 10 victories in 34 league games under the 40-year-old. They still haven't achieved two league games in a row and have not ended a round of league games this season higher than ninth.

The worrying figures are stretching belief in Amorim among the United fanbase heading into a stretch of fixtures their team has struggled during for the past two seasons.

Amorim said he doesn't sense the uncertainty within the organization at the club's Carrington training ground and is firm nothing equals the expectation he places on the team - and in certain ways, he would rather Sir Jim not to be trying to create tranquility because he fears the influence it may create on the team.

"It isn't merely something people discuss, I feel it each day," he remarked. "It's really good to listen to it because it assists our supporters to understand the management realize it needs a period.

"However simultaneously, I dislike it because it generates a sense that we have time to solve problems. I don't wish for that feeling in our team.

"The pressure I place on the team or upon myself is considerably larger [compared to external sources]. In football, particularly at major teams, you have to show your value every weekend."
