World Series Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended contest where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined over 50 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total US average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
